Compliance

The best learning doesn't teach people what to remember. It teaches them how to make the right decision when it matters.

A scene from the NZ Customs security awareness module, drawn in graphic-novel style

Case study

For New Zealand Customs, we built a security awareness campaign to meet the Government’s Protective Security Requirements: graphic-novel-style modules with branching scenarios, screensavers, refresher modules and a team leader briefing pack. Security reporting rose tenfold, reports came in faster and with better detail, 49% of teams held a security briefing, and the Government’s central security agency adopted some of the content for use across all agencies. The campaign won a Brandon Hall Silver award in 2024.

The problem we solve

Compliance is often treated as a box to tick – complete the course, pass the quiz, move on. Policies alone don't change behaviour; most compliance training focuses on information, not application, and people don't remember policy documents.

What makes it stick?

It’s not the black-and-white situations where people make mistakes. It’s the grey, where people make different calls and that inconsistency costs the business. So we build the stories and scenarios where the right thing to do isn’t obvious, because that’s where the risk is.

What you can expect

People who make consistent, confident calls in the grey areas, so there are fewer breaches and less risk to the business.

What our clients say

The module had lots of important learnings to take away but the (latent) gamer in me found barely a dull moment. I was trying scenarios out in many different variations to discover ‘what if?’ options. The graphics and comic book effects are so entertaining you forget you are doing ‘learning’. Excellent module!
